Cardiac clearance!
Dylan underwent the cardiac cath, cardiac MRI and placement of the Broviac line on Friday, February 13th. He did very well and was quite the trooper. He was under anesthesia for over 6 hours and had a breathing tube while sedated, so he is very hoarse. He is still at Mount Sinai and we are hoping he'll be able to come home tomorrow.
The result of the testing is that Dylan's heart is strong enough to undergo the simultaneous transplant and he should officially be listed this coming week!!!
The doctors have begun "fine tuning" the fluids that Dylan is being given through the Broviac. They have figured out that he has spent much of the past months being severely dehydrated, which has also hindered his growth. He has been getting enough protein through his formula, so they are now giving him sugar water, fats and carbohydrates through the Broviac. At admission on Friday he was 11.2 lbs. and today's weigh in was 12.2 lbs.! Yesterday when I left NY, he had rosy cheeks and was in great spirits - throwing Cheerios around and watching Barney. Grandma is there with him now and I will leave CT early tomorrow with the hopes of returning later in the day with The Big D!
